Full Time – Assistant Manager
Hours: 45 hours per week, full-time, including working three weekends out of every four.
We are seeking a passionate horticulturalist with previous supervisory and retail experience to join our small and friendly team as an Assistant Manager. You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the garden centre, ensuring exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards in product quality and presentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a love of plants and a desire to contribute to a thriving retail environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team, providing guidance, support and training as needed.
Operational Support: Assist the Director in overseeing daily operations, responsibilities include, inventory management, stock ordering and maintaining budgets, while also overseeing the presentation of the garden centre remains well-maintained, organised and adequately stocked.
Customer Service: Ensuring exceptional customer service is consistently delivered by the staffing team, whether it’s assisting customers face-to-face, over the phone, or via email, answering their questions, and resolving any issues.
Plant Care: Take care of the health and well-being of plants by monitoring their watering, fertilisation, and pest control.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to protect both customers and employees.
Qualifications / Experience
- Previous experience in garden centre or retail management.
- A well-rounded knowledge of indoor and outdoor plants plus relevant horticultural qualifications.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Some social media experience.
