Dioscorea Elephantipes


This unique and long-living caudiciform plant is also commonly known as the Elephant’s Foot or Hottentot Bread. It grows long vines with cute green, heart-shaped leaves out of the caudex. Sometimes the plant will develop small flowers in Spring. A small stick can be used to guide the plant. This plant is easy to care for and will make a lovely addition to any collection.

Plant care

Pot size: 11cm - Height (including pot): 33cm approx.

Bright indirect light.

Do not let this plant sit in water. To avoid overwatering it, allow the soil to almost dry out before watering it again.

You should keep your plant at around 18°C minimum for it to thrive.

Normal household humidity levels are fine for this caudex plant.

This plant is toxic to humans and pets.
