Pachypodium densiflorum is a striking and unusual succulent. It is a species of flowering plant in the Apocynaceae family and its name means ‘dense flowered’.  It is a branching plant, and the caudex becomes dense with spines.  Leaves are dark green and have a feathery appearance.  These plants drop leaves in Autumn and regrow again in Spring. Flowers are produced in summer in clusters of yellow.  This specimen is a collectable and one of the easiest Pachypodium to grow.  It originates from Madagascar.

Plant care

Pot size: 12cm - Height (including pot): 25cm approx.

Full light.

During the growing season water thoroughly when the soil is dry, but don’t leave the soil dry for too long as excessive drought will spoil the delicate roots. In Autumn, gradually reduce watering and stop watering when the leaves start to fall. In Spring the leaves and flower buds will start to grow begin to start watering steadily.

All Pachypodium are from very hot environments and should never be kept below 10°C.

Humidity is not needed for this plant as it prefers dry environments.

The sap is poisonous to pets and people so keep out of reach. Feed once a month is growing season.
