This beautiful Tillandsia capitata or commonly known as an Air Plant is a genus of bromeliads. When in flower it has delicate fiery red orange spikes coming directly from the centre , and also displays bright green leaves. It produces rich purple flowers. They can be found in Central and South America, Mexico and the southern United States. Tillandsias do not stand with their roots in the soil to absorb food but use their roots to attach themselves to a tree, branch or stone. Because the Tillandsia extracts nutrients from the air, they need little water.
Plant care
Pot size: 12cm - Height (including pot): 35cm approx.
It prefers bright indirect sunlight.
Give the potted Tillandsia a little water every week and check that the soil is not too wet. If possible, use rainwater especially in hard water areas.
This plant is happiest over 15°c.
These plants do need a humid environment to thrive.
Non-toxic to cats and dogs.
