Assistant Manager, N1 Garden Centre, North London
Hours: 45 hours per week, full time to include alternate weekend working.
We are an award-winning and independent garden centre in North London, with a strong commitment to customer service and a passion for horticulture. We have been dedicated to providing our customers with top-quality plants, stylish home accessories, and expert advice for the past 24 years.
We are seeking a passionate horticulturalist with previous supervisory and retail experience to join our small and friendly team as an Assistant Manager. You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the garden centre, ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining the highest standards in product quality and presentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a love of plants and a desire to contribute to a thriving retail environment.
Team Leadership: Manage and lead a team, providing guidance, support and training as needed.
Operational Support: Assist the Director in coordinating daily operations, including inventory management, stock ordering and maintaining budgets.
Customer Service: Ensuring exceptional customer service is consistently delivered by the staffing team, whether it’s assisting customers face-to-face, over the phone or via email.
Plant Care: Ensuring the plants are cared and maintained to the highest standard by monitoring their watering, fertilisation, and pest control.
Safety Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and guidelines to protect both customers and employees.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Previous experience in garden centre or retail management.
- A well-rounded knowledge of indoor and outdoor plants plus relevant horticultural qualifications.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Leadership and team management abilities.
- A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Some social media experience.
